Pool DIY Solar Heater - Improving with Insulation Foam - 1402
I really love my small little tiny pool,, but I am not that kind of a viking,, I want warm-ish water to get in it. Therefore I have been trying to build a solar water heater, and I am continuing to improving on it. In this video I am isolating the back of it. This is to avoid cold air blowing through it, cooling the pipes down. and to catch a bit more of the solar heat..

    If there are no drivers for the RAID controller, obviously it won't work. Clonezilla doesn't include everything under the sun driver vise so you might need to add or mount the specific driver for your hardware first :) Also, check the different versions of clonezilla, they include completely different modules. One for windows machines is more specific and bare bones than one for servers / enterprise.

    The SFP+ DAC (passive) should be a lot better because there is no signal processing in the transceiver. It literally connects the contacts from one sfp+ slot to the other via a copper conductor. That's also why it does not reach far beyond 5 m. I think you mixed up the numbers of the SFP+ Fibre and SFP+ DAC transceivers. All other methods have some sort of signal processing and or medium conversion, and that is the mayor contributor to the latency. The medium itself is mostly irrelevant in this case, the (long) distance has a bigger influence in latency than if the signal travels over copper or optical fibre. Of course signal degradation over very long distances and the need for repeaters do play a role. So we have two contributors: - Medium conversion - Distance But to be blunt, in a homelab, I don't think latency matters enough. I'd just avoid the SFP(+) to RJ45 transceiver modules, not just because of latency issues, but also because they get hot af and draw a lot of power.

    Man you are close! 27 ° C is perfect! Full greenhouse is essential. since tubing has circular cross section you could just lay clear sheet on top with limited conductive heat loss , but even better to give little more air gap. seal the sides up good and silicone in the back foam - whole thing air tight as possible. re: pump i say bite the bullet and buy another small solar panel (at a fair price this time!) and couple it with the existing small panel.

    You could make a circuit using a 555 and LDR. You would only want it to turn on when the LDR gets enough light. The 555 would control the pump, so that it's not pushing all the water through and stops to give it some time to heat up. You should also enclose it which would heat the air up inside making the performance better. I thought of doing one where the water coil is in the frame of a solar panel as they get hot, so doing two jobs. And it's all framed for you as a single unit, panel pumps and heating at the same time. Interestingly, would having solar to electrical heating work better?

    • @MyPlayHouse
      @MyPlayHouse 2 дня назад

      Humm,, or just a timer, that turns on the pump for 30 seconds and off for 30 seconds. That would probably also solve all my problems, if I could store the power that the solar panel produces, while the pump is not running. To make it start up again.

    • @guywhoknows
      @guywhoknows День назад

      @@MyPlayHouse but how would you run the timer? The LDR detects the light, using a resistor you can use that to set the level it will switch. You should find that a few caps will do the job. Hunt down some binned microwaves and pull it out. Or just some off of old power supplies..

  • @chris_blake83
    @chris_blake83 2 дня назад

    Fully enclose the solar heater, with the internal being coloured either black reflective. The sides need to be slightly taller so to create an air gap above/in-front of the the pipe loop the front which faces the sun needs to be a transparent polycarbonate cover. This will make a mini greenhouse with the solar heat loop inside this will greatly improve the heat output.

So im also buying that router for my vacations to my home country, Portugal. Regarding the data usage reported by the device, and because the seller sold you and already used and returned device (same as ElGiganten Outlet), the 15GB used are not yours but the ones from the previous user... There should be a way to reset them. After that, and with a completely new sim card, they both should be with equal consumption, but if you use another card, then the router keeps rising. You can only see the Lyca consumption trouth their app or site, with the IMEI of the sim card.

    Having the switch in the bottom of the rack leaves it very exposed if there is flooding, maybe it should be higher.

    Are you using the inverter in the AllPower? Could you connect up the panels for 24volt? If the Allpower can take 24v input you could step the voltage down from 24v to 19v instead of up from 12v???

    • @MyPlayHouse
      @MyPlayHouse 3 дня назад

      At the moment I am using the inverter,, but I am hoping to go full DC,, to save on power.

    Probably a little late, but you should have pulled a pull through string along with the wires/fibre. That way if you needed to pull anything else (especially with the corrugated pipe) you could easily pull it. I am not sure if you could still use the plastic bag (or small piece of cloth) and a vacuum...

    • @MyPlayHouse
      @MyPlayHouse 3 дня назад

      Yes,, that was stupid, that I did not do that,, I did not think,, I am really ignored with my self not having done that. I do know the vacuum trick,, that might save my @$$ :-)

      @@MyPlayHouse with hindsight, before you installed the pipe, run a draw wire inside it. Then you can use it to pull wires through. When you pull new wires through, also pull a new draw wire through so you always have a draw wire available. P.s. I'd probably have used slightly larger pipe too. Makes it much easier to pull cables through.

    Morten was saying: “The fiber optic cable was available”, but means: “Now we’re one short at work” 😉 Just disappointed you didn’t use the vacuum cleaner and plastic bag on a pull wire trick to get the wires trough 😉…

      I have no idea, why we had a 14M at work,, we never use longer then 7Meter :-/ I might have to use the vacuum trick,, as I was to stupid to pool a string through..

    this is pretty major progress - the only productive things I have to add is to use fused connections and also add pos pressure hepa with humidity control and remote monitoring - you probably have to extend series and get a mini pc running with home assistant and a few controls for env and power, you want to have redundant connections to the bunker and out of the bunker, a mini cluster would be nice in the bunker - redundancy and failover - good poc content - the use of the tools to install and verify fiber was great - tuborg gold award! I would have tried to use dac just for ease of use and price - i have had bad luck with tranceivers - they get hot - trying to stick with rj45/cat8. try to put foam boards and then plywood pieces for floor of bunker - maybe even shag carpet. good ending to this one, try to do more cable mgt - most of it is good but rem this is a bunker - everything has to be perfect and orderly

    Amazed you got that cable through there! There's a reason its called PULLING cable - could have sucked a string through that tube (vacuum and a plastic bag) then pulled your cable - great video thanks! Always better to be too long than too short!

    A thougt crossed my mind: is the fiber crossed a/b --- b/a? Otherwise you will get no link, no data will flow and the miniGBIC stays cool

    Try another SFP+ miniGBIC. I can recommend "H!Fiber AXS85-192-M3". A pair of 2 cost only 27€. Works great in my TP-Link SX3008f and also in my cheap Binardat 5*2.5+2*SFP+ Switch.
